Nurse Aide Training Program

STUDENT POLICIES

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:

All students are expected to attend all classroom, laboratory and clinical experiences.

Absences will only be approved by the Director of the Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP).

Tardiness is not allowed.  Any tardiness will only be approved by Director of NATP.

Absence or tardiness without approval by the Director will result in immediate termination from the program.

DRESS CODE:

Students must be dressed in professional attire.

Must have uniform top and bottoms.  Scrub uniforms of any color.

Clean, white comfortable shoes (no open toes, slingbacks or clogs)

Hair must be pulled back during labs and clinicals.

Fingernails clean and manageable length.

Minimal amount of jewelry.

Limit jewelry to one ring, no hoop earrings and no face/tongue piercings.

            GRADING CRITERIA:

        The student will be graded in three different areas:

Classroom  -  A written examination will follow the unit(s) studied.  A minimum score of 75% must be attained to pass.

Laboratory  -  The student will receive a Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory grade on all laboratory skills observed by trainer.

Clinicals  -  The student will receive a Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory grade on all clinical skills observed by trainer.

In order to pass the Nurse Assistant training program the student must earn minimum of 75% on the written examinations and pass the laboratory and clinical skills portion with 100% Satisfactory.

If a score of 75% is not achieved, the student will be given the opportunity to review the examination and a retest will be offered.  One on one instruction will be made available to the student during this review process.  If a score of 75% is not achieved with the review and retest, the student will be terminated from the program.

Students with difficulty in achieving 75% on daily quizzes will be advised to attend Community Adult Education Classes.

EXAMINATIONS:

All written examinations will consist of multiple choice, fill in the blanks and true or false questions.

If student is found to be cheating on quizzes or examinations, a zero for the exam will be recorded and student will be terminated from the NATP.

No examinations will be missed unless the Director of NATP has approved the absence and make up process.

DUE PROCESS / GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE POLICY:

Valley Training Center recognizes the student’s right to a grievance process should an issue arise during the training program.

The student should discuss the issue with the instructor/trainer.  If unable to be resolved, the student must submit issue(s) to the Program Coordinator in writing.  The Program Coordinator and the student will resolve the issue.
